Ambassador(ret.) YIM Sung-joon currently shares his time as Distinguished Professor at the Hankuk University of Foreign Studies and as Senior Advisor for Lee International Law Group, Korea’s leading IP law firm.

Amb. Yim served as the 8th President of the Korean Foundation from 2007 to 2010 after retiring from a diplomatic career of 33 years.

Ambassador Yim also served as National Security Advisor to former president Kim Dae-jung.
His major diplomatic career includes two ambassadorial posts in Egypt and Canada and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Amb. Yim earned a B.A. degree from the Department of International Relations at Seoul National University in 1971. He also studied at the University of Oxford, UK and Keio University , Japan.
He was honored with decorations from the ROK, Hungary and Spain.
