서울국제포럼 The Seoul Forum for International Affairs(SFIA)

박태호 박사는 2017년 9월부터 법무법인(유) 광장의 『국제통상연구원』 원장으로 재직하고 있다. 박원장은 지난 40여년간 대학, 국책연구원, 정부 등에서 일해 온 국제통상전문가이다. 특히 2007-2010년에는 무역위원회 위원장, 2011-2013년에는 외교통상부 통상교섭본부장을 모두 역임한 바 있다. 2013년에는 한국 정부대표 자격으로 WTO 사무총장 후보자로 출마하기도 했다. 박원장은 미 Georgetown 대학에서 경제학과 교수로 3년 반 재직하였으며 KDI, KIEP등 연구원에서도 연구활동을 하였다. 세계은행과 IMF에서도 방문학자로 일한 바 있고 미 스탠포드대학, 프랑스 시앙스포대학에서 초빙교수로도 강의를 하였다. 20년간의 교수생활을 마친 박태호 원장은 2017년 8월말 서울대학교에서 정년퇴임을 하고 국제대학원 명예교수로 임명 받았다. 박태호 원장은 서울대학교 상과대학 경제학과를 졸업했으며 미국 위스컨신대학에서 경제학 박사학위를 받았다.

Taeho BARK is currently President of the Global Commerce Institute of Lee&Ko, a leading global law firm in Korea and Professor Emeritus (former professor and Dean) of the Graduate School of International Studies (GSIS) at Seoul National University. Professor Bark was appointed Minister for Trade of the Korean government in December 2011 and served until March 2013. In spring 2013, Dr Bark was in the race for the Director-General position of the WTO as the Korean candidate. He also served as the Ambassador-at-Large for International Economy and the Chairman of the International Trade Commission of Korea. Prior to coming to Seoul National University, Professor Bark taught as an assistant professor at Georgetown University, worked as a senior research fellow of the Korea Development Institute (KDI) and served as the Vice President of the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP). During 2000-2002, Dr Bark served Chair of the Investment Expert Group (IEG) of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC). He taught at Sciences Po, Stanford University and the University of Washington as a visiting professor. In addition, he was a visiting scholar at the IMF and consulted for the World Bank and the ADB. He has authored books and articles on topics like international trade, foreign direct investment and the Korean economy. He was awarded “the Order of Service Merit, Yellow Stripes” (second highest grade) by the Korean government. Professor Bark received his BA from Seoul National University and Ph.D. in economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
