서울국제포럼 The Seoul Forum for International Affairs(SFIA)

서강대에서 경제학부와 경제대학원 교수이자 의회경제전공 주임교수이며 현재 대외교류처장직을 맡고 있다. 경기여자고등학교를 졸업(63회)하였으며 연세대학교 이학사(79년), 경제학사(81년)를 받았다. 미국으로 건너가 미네소타대학에서 경제학 박사(91년) 학위를 받았으며 미국 휴스톤대학에서 학생들을 가르친 후 한국으로 돌아와 하나은행 경제연구소 금융조사 팀장(1992.4~1999.4), 한국경제연구원 금융재정연구센터 소장(1999.4~2003.12), 국회예산정책처 초대 경제분석실장 (2004.1~2006.8) 등을 거쳐 서강대에서 후학을 양성하고 있다. 2년 3개월간 제12대 통계청장(2009.5~2011.7)을 역임 하기도 하였다.

한국여성경제학회 회장, 한국경제학회 부회장, 한국재정학회 감사, 등재학술지인 ‘한국경제연구’의 수석편집위원장 등 등 학회에서 다양한 역할을 하였으며 2013년에는 한국경제연구학회 회장으로 한국경제연구를 발전시키는데 노력하였다. 기획재정부, 국무총리실, 미래부, 법무부 등 정부의 다양한 분야의 각종위원회 위원 역임 등 학계, 관계, 연구계, 여성계, 재계 등에서 폭넓은 소통에 노력하고 있다.

여성으로서는 최초라는 타이틀을 달고 살면서 업계, 학계, 관계를 어우르며 국민과 소통하는 실물경제 감각을 보유하고 있다. 금융·재정·조세 전문가로 관련 수 십편의 저서와 논문을 집필하였으며 각종 신문 고정 컬럼니스트이며 정책주장을 위한 방송출연 등 활발한 활동을 하고 있다. 의회경제연구라는 영역을 국내최초로 개발해 서강대에서 의회경제학 석사과정 및 의회정책 단기과정 개설 및 운영하였고 통계청장 재직시에는 3대 총조사(인총,농총,경총)의 성공적 수행과 더불어 통계청 조직 혁신 및 통계활용의 새로운 장을 제시하였다.

Insill Yi is currently Vice President for Public Affairs and a Professor of Graduate School of Economics at Sogang University(from September 2006). After she got her Ph.D in economics at University of Minnesota, USA in 1991, she worked as a senior economist and team leader of financial analysis team, for Hana Bank’s Research Institute(from April 1992 to April 1999). She also worked as a senior research fellow and director of the Center for Finance and Tax, for Korea Economic Research Institute (from April 1999 to December 2003). She served for Korean National Assembly as the first Chief of Economic Analysis Division, National Assembly Budget Office (from January 2004 to August 2006) and also served for Korean government as the 12th Commissioner of Statistics Korea from the private sector for the first time as a commissioner (May 2009 to July 2011).

She has been and is also currently active in participating the governmental committee members and in publishing articles and opinions in various academic journals and newspapers. She served for the President of the Korean Women Economic Association and the President of The Korean Economic Association. She was the President of the Association of Korean Economic Studies from 2013 to 2014.
