    그는 서울대학교 중어중문학 학사, 서울대학교 대학원 법학 석사학위를 수여 받았다. 한국고등교육재단에서 사무총장직을 맡기 전에 그는 2008-2011년동안 주UN 대표부 대사로 있었다. 그는 1978년 외무부에서 일을 시작하였으며, 미국, 브뤼셀, 사우디아라비아 등에서 외교관으로 지냈다. 외무부 본부에서 그는 UN총회 제2위원회 의장직을 맡았으며, 2006년에는 외교통상부 외교정책실 실장, 2007년에는 외교통상부 다자외교실 실장으로 있었다. 2002-2003년에는 외교통상부장관 보좌관으로 있었다. 이 외에도 그는 여러 국제기구에서 의장을 맡았는데, 2004년 제네바 군축회의와 UN총회 제2위원회에서 의장직을 맡았다. 또한 2012년에는 유엔지속개발회의 준비위원회에서 공동 의장을 맡았다.

    Park In-kook holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the Department of Chinese Language and Literature (1975) and a Master’s Degree from the Graduate School of Law (1980) at Seoul National University.

    Before he took current undertaking as President of Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies, he served as Ambassador, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Korea to the United Nations (2008 – 2011).

    Mr. Park joined the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1978 and served in the United States, Brussels (Korean Mission to the EU), and Saudi Arabia as career diplomat. Working in the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Park served as Director of the United Nations Division II, the Disarmament and Nuclear Energy Division, the Deputy Minister for Policy Planning and International Organizations (2006) and Deputy Foreign Minister for multilateral and global issues in 2007. He also served as Secretary to the President of the Republic of Korea for International Security (2002 - 2003).

    Mr. Park had taken on other “ambassadorial roles” as President or Chair of a number of important international organizations, including President of the Geneva Conference on Disarmament (2004), Chairman of the 2nd Committee of the UN General Assembly (Finance, Economy, Development and Environment, 2009 – 2010). He also served as Co-Chair of Preparatory Committee for the UN conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20 UN Environment Summit, 2012).
