박인국 학술원장은 1978년 외무고시 12기로 외교부에 입부하여 2011년 주 UN 대사 퇴임까지 33년간 외교관으로 근무했다. 공직 퇴임 후, 2011년 한국고등교육재단 사무총장으로 부임 했으며 2018년부터 최종현학술원장을 맡고 있다.

외교통상부 외교정책 실장, 다자외교 실장, 대통령 국제안보 비서관, 주 쿠웨이트 대사, 주 제네바 대표부 차석대사, 주 EU 대표부 공사참사관, 주미 1등 서기관을 역임했으며 국제기구 분야에서는 UN 총회 제 2위원회 의장(경제·금융·환경·개발), UN 환경정상회의 (Rio+20) 준비위원회 공동의장, 제네바 군축회의 의장, UN 평화구축위원회 부의장, UN 2과장, 군축원자력 과장, 대북경수로사업 지원기획단 국제협력부장 등의 역할을 수행했다. 북경대, 청화대, 복단대, 중국인민대 등 주요 중국 대학의 아시아연구센터 공동이사장을 맡고 있다.

서울대 중어중문학 학사, 동 대학 대학원에서 법학 석사를 취득했으며 서울대에 이어 고려대 국제대학원 초빙 교수로 강의하고 있다.

PARK In-kook is President of the Chey Institute for Advanced Studies. He previously served as Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Korea to the United Nations (2008-2011) and Deputy Foreign Minister for Policy Planning and International Organizations (2006). He also took on other ambassadorial roles such as President of the Geneva Conference on Disarmament as well as Chairman of the 2nd Committee of the UN General Assembly.

As the inaugural President of the Chey Institute, he has devoted himself to establishing the Chey Institute as an international academic exchange platform by carrying out various projects in collaboration with world-leading think tanks and institutions across the world. He also serves as Co-Chair of the Boards of Asia Research Centers at Peking University, Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Renmin University of China, Vietnam National University, National University of Laos, and National University of Mongolia.

President Park holds a B.A. in Chinese Language and Literature, and an M.A. in Law from Seoul National University. He currently serves as a visiting professor at the Graduate School of International Studies at Korea University.
